In October 2020, I met this guy, let’s call him Paul for privacy purposes. Paul and I met on Hinge after I changed my location to Los Angeles after my sister’s suggestion. Paul and I connected instantly, we had a lot in common and we seemed to connect really well. But it started out as a lie, it wasn’t built on honesty. So when we FaceTime one night, I tell him the truth and he doesn’t seem to take it too hard. We text each other, but it seems like he doesn’t have much interest in me. One night, he messages me that from finding a job, balancing family and friends, he didn’t want to invest in a long distance relationship. I told him that I’d like for us to stay friends, but I never heard from him again. I was heartbroken, cried about it for days but eventually moved on.

Flash forward to October 2021, I meet another guy, Henry (alias for privacy purpose) on Bumble. Much like Paul, Henry and I hit it off instantly. We bond over our musical interests, our common interest in exercise, martial arts, Supernatural and Marvel. We seemed to have a great rapport, I had an amazing time on our first date and we had a lot of fun. Our conversations are great and I really enjoying talking to him about his life and sharing about my life. Our first date fell the day before Paul’s birthday, and it was very strange to see Paul’s Instagram photo appear on my feed…
